In March 2023 we began our journey to launch the EPPUR SI MUOVE project in order to install solar modules on trucks, vans and buses.

This is the implementation of solar energy in trucks and other industrial vehicles designed in a way that is capable of being integrated in an efficient way. In this way we manage to increase its autonomy, reduce fuel costs, emissions and reduce noise pollution.

REASONS

  • Technologically today it is possible and efficient.
  • Increasing electrical consumption of modern vehicles since a lot of electricity is consumed for coffee makers, televisions, computers, refrigerators, tools, rear lifts, doors, rear doors, and the like, especially when the vehicle is stationary.

FUEL

  • Fuel savings: appliances such as air conditioning, microwave, laptop, telephone, heater and refrigerator consume a lot of electricity when parked, so most drivers charge their batteries with the engine during their break mandatory. For this reason alone it can translate into a quick return on investment in the purchase of a photovoltaic installation.
  • A vehicle started once a day for 1 hour consumes approximately 2.5 liters.
  • An average of 200 charging starts per year saves us 500 liters of fuel.
  • BIOFUTUR SOLAR TRUCK supplies the truck with green electricity from solar panels. When driving, a lower load on the engine reduces fuel consumption. Furthermore, it becomes unnecessary to be idle to generate electricity. Less load on the engine and less idling times, together they save up to 5.5% fuel in total.
  • Running the truck engine at idle to generate electricity is extremely inefficient and causes a lot of wear and tear.

BATTERIES

  • When the batteries are fully charged, the vehicle’s own system disconnects the alternator while driving. This is also reflected in lower fuel consumption
  • With discharged batteries: the vehicle will burn more fuel in the first minutes of engine operation.
  • An alternative to expensive battery replacement.
  • When the batteries are completely discharged, the panels allow them to be recharged and start the engine after a few hours of charging in the sun.
  • They do not allow the battery voltage to drop to a critical value, which effectively reduces the efficiency and life of the battery.
  • The batteries will not be sulfated.
  • With the introduction of the Euro 6 standard, modern battery management systems cause problems under certain conditions. For example, generators are only turned on when absolutely necessary. This causes strong fluctuations in charging voltages and is detrimental to the battery’s capacity.
  • Charging is done both when you are driving or when you are parked, protecting the generator and always with the batteries charged.
  • Part of the annoying starting of the engine during mandatory stops to recharge the batteries is gone, expanding the use of the air conditioning also if it is stationary.
  • Reduction of time in the workshop for changing batteries or other elements involved.
  • Battery technology did not keep pace with technological advances in the truck, which led to batteries needing to be replaced frequently.
  • The BIOFUTUR SOLAR TRUCK can be used to charge additional devices, such as lift gates and pallet trucks.
